- Styrene-benzene spread turns positive- On June 14,  strong demand from the gasoline sector drove up benzene
prices

Styrene prices rose in the European market
on June 15 due to market reaction to feedstock benzene's gain. Although styrene stocks in
Europe were reported to be high due to low downstream demand, prices rose in
June and July because of upstream benzene. On June 14, benzene prices briefly rose above styrene due to
strong gasoline demand. The forward
loading lay can for Styrene took five to thirty days and was valued at $1,926.75-1,960.50/mt
FOB AR June 15, up to $75.75-80.50/mt was the
average price for that day. This led to
the styrenebenzene spread turning positive at $50.75-55.50/mt. A source claimed that there were only a few notional
bid-offer levels in the styrene marketplace amid thin trading.
