- Aromatics prices fall- Flat August-September
structure

Asian benzene dropped $54.33-60.25/mt to
$1,161-1,200/mt FOB Korea on July 6. September ICE Brent crude oil futures fell
$9.22-10.25/b and $104.53-130.50/b at 0830 GMT. Naphtha was down $33-38/mt to
$818.25-840.25/mt CIF Japan. Other aromatics prices fell as well
due to the fall in crude oil. Styrene monomer prices dropped $41-45/mt
to $1271-1300/mt CFR China. The August/September structure of
benzene FOB Korean gradually narrowed to plus $1-2/mt as time passed. This was
after the structure had been in backwardation. Although
benzene prices in FOB Korea were lower than $70-75/mt at first, bids eventually
proved that the prices are higher. Yuan 178-250/mt was charged for the
domestic East China marker. This is equivalent to Yuan 9,127-9,300/mt on an
import parity basis.
