Due to a lack of domestic trading activity
and quiet spot demand, the European butadiene markets moved in a sideways
fashion in the week to February 10. The FD NEW
spot price remained stable at Eur740-745/mt for the week. The week saw
a decrease in buyer appetite for European spot volumes as producers did not see
much interest in their offers. Domestic consumers stayed with
contractual offtakes because the overall demand downstream was still soft. This
was especially true for products that are largely exposed to natural gas and
energy like adiponitrile. Sources said that SBR and other
derivatives saw an increase in demand towards the end of January, but overall
