The upward price trend for the US MTBE
markets on Aug. 18 seemed to be in doubt as there was a slight uptick in gasoline
prices. A
low-price offer of 343.25c/gal was made for the Aug. 26-30 loading at Market on
Close, but it was not accepted. FOB US
Gulf Coast MTBE was at 343.20c/gal on Aug. 18. Premiums against September RBOB
decreased further to 40.59c/gal. Premiums
were at their highest at 68.95c/gal on August 5 and slowly declined to
46.93c/gal on August 9, before remaining at the same level for six sessions. September RBOB gasoline futures increased 9.16 cents/gal
daily to 302.61c/gal on August 18. A
