Spot activity for monoethylene glycol in
the US was low, consistent with seasonal trends. Sources said that this was due
to a lack of interest. One
deal was made for export at a $70-75/mt discount to the Asia spot price. This was
below $500-520/mt. Unfavorable margins
continue to reduce US production rates. According
to the Petrochemical Scorecard analysis, US MEG margins fell to below the
seasonal average since October. The report
stated that US Gulf Coast margins will be affected by low US ethylene prices,
margins and weaker international demand. All
