US August DDP-benzene rose 16 cents/gal to
436c/gal on July 28. This was due to lagging volatility and prompt benzene
tightness. The
higher benzene price rose 3.81% despite weakening upstream crude futures which
fell 84c/b to $96.42-102.50/b. This was 0.88% less. On July 28, the benzene to crude ratio was 1.90, up from
1.84 on Jul 27. The August benzene
contract price for the initial settlement was set at 452c/gal. The final settlement of the contract price is expected on
July 29. The initial settlement was 230c/gal
lower than the July settlement of 682c/gal. As contract negotiations were the main focus, liquidity was
