Due to dips in upstream oil, US Gulf Coast spot benzene was lower on Aug. 30, Market
conditions did not change as a reduction in styrene exports continued its
downward trend. On that day, benzene
offerings fell. Crude oil futures fell on
August 30 upstream as tensions in Iraq seemed to have cooled - even if
temporarily - and there were more warning signs about ongoing inflationary
fears and global recession concerns. NYMEX
October WTI fell $5.37 to $91.64/b. ICE October Brent lost $5.78 to $99.31/b.
This was a complete reverse of the price spikes that occurred the previous day
due to violent clashes between Libya and Iraq. NYMEX September RBOB fell by 18.32 to settle at $2.6944/gal.
