European benzene prices dip May 11, despite
shortage heard in supply. According
to bids and offer heard, the five-to-30 day forward delivery laycan has been
assessed at $979.75-989.85/mt. This is down $1.25-2.50/mt from yesterday. A market participant said that "not much material is
available" and added that there was demand for benzene. Recent reports suggested that the low upstream run rates had
led to a limited supply of benzene, and no European imports were heard in May. The five-to-30 day forward loading laycan for styrene was
assessed on May 11 at $1,016.75/mt, down $36.25/mt from the previous day. A source stated that demand is "particularly low at the
