Cracker outages have no visible impact / Prices slide $14/mt on day

Dec 17, 2021

European benzene prices fell on December
16th, as trading showed that there was ample supply and demand. On Dec.
16, the five- to 30-day forward delivery laycan was reduced by $14/mt to
$1,056/mt CIF/ARA. This week's prices
jumped after news about cracker outages at Dow Terneuzen since Nov. 30, which
led to an increase in prices. Although
this led to some speculation about tighter availability, there has been little
impact on benzene stocks so far.
