Terephthalate prices in the USA were unchanged week-on-week July 27, at
$2,116-$2,138/mt (96 to97 cents/lb). DDP US West Coast was based on stable
pricing indicators. Domestic PET
prices were also flat week-on-week in formula-based pricing as well as stable
pricing indications at $2,282-$2,304/mt (103.5-104.5c/lb). According to
market sources, domestic demand remains strong and could be under pressure by
high upstream paraxylene and PTA prices. Due to the
high octane content of US gasoline, xylene blending has been encouraged. This
means that less PX is available downstream for purified terephthalic acid
