Rising ammonia costs push up prices Demand remains tepid



The Asian acrylonitrile
markets were flat to higher in the week ending April 12. This was due to an
increase in feedstock ammonia costs lending support to the Asian acrylonitrile
industry. According to Commodity Insights data, CFR Far East Asia had
an Acrylonitrile CFR Far East Asia assessment of $5-6/mt more. CFR South Asia
however was unchanged at $2,000-2,020/mt. Prices
for ammonia have risen to $1,050-1,070/mt. This is $125135/mt more than Jan. 6 and nearly double the annual average. A
producer from Northeast Asia stated that his target was $2,500-2,530/mt (for
CFR Far East Asia ACN), but the ammonia price rise is eroding his margins. Ammonia and propylene are the main feedstocks of
