Spot US export caustic soda prices remained
unchanged at $845-$855/dmt FOB USG on Sept. 13. This assessment was based on
stable pricing indicators that were confirmed by multiple market participants. Export caustic soda prices
rose 19.7% in January. The assessed level is the highest recorded since
December 2009. Sources indicated that
caustic soda demand was strong despite a tight supply. US contract chlorine prices rose $50-55/dst to $870-880/dst
ex plant on Sept. 13. This was based on higher pricing indications and pricing
discussions ahead of Q4 2022. According to
market sources, discussions are ongoing in the wake of a possible strike by US
