The US acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene
assessment was up 3 cents on the week as upstream styrene spot prices surged
$66 in the week ended Dec. 6. Spot ABS was
valued at between 105 and 107 cents/lb. Acrylonitrile
spot pricing was stable during the week despite limited activity. The
Butadiene spot market also saw quiet trading this week. Sources
said that December 2nd saw US butadiene contract prices settle 10 cents/lb less
than November. All four producers--ExxonMobil, Shell, TPC
Group, and LyondellBasell--were heard to have nominated at 54 cents/lb, 10
cents below the November CP level, based on market feedback. The current
contract price is at its lowest level since April 2021 when it was rated at
50.75c/lb.
