Styrene prices remain bullish on outages April trading was seen in a broad spread



The European market saw
benzene prices rise slightly, led by downstream styrene. The forward delivery laycan for five to thirty days was
valued at $10-12/mt and $1,215-1,225/mt CIF ARA, despite a decline in ICE Brent
crude oil swaps this week. A trader stated
that although trading liquidity was still low for benzene the downstream
activity in styrene was driving the market. There was widespread trading on the 21st of April,
creating uncertainty in the market about the true value of styrene. Late April 20th, two April trades were made at $2,500-2,530/mt
& $2,100-2,130/mt. Sources suggested
that the premium trade was due to the lower ethylbenzene content. The second
trade was considered lower quality. Trade
counterparts did not confirm this. The
