- Weak trade activity in both Chinese imports as well as
domestic prices- After falls in downstream
markets, price pressure will continue

Asian propylene spot price remained stable
on July 6 due to tapered buying activity. Market participants were uncertain
about the near-term outlook of downstream sectors. Sources said that
downstream polypropylene prices remained under pressure which severely limited
buyers' appetite for the propylene spot market. Market sources say that propylene production has been
reduced due to higher raw material costs. However, there has not been a halt to
the price fall. The market has been
influenced by the falling crude oil prices. Spot prices for downstream raffia-grade polypropylene fell
$20-25/mt day-on-day on July 6, to $1,030-1,60/mt CFR Far East Asia.
