- DDP shrinks December FOB spread- All other prices for benzene are stable during the day

The US Gulf Coast front-month FOB price
fell on Nov. 29, as the spread between DDP & FOB narrowed. December USG benzene was at 279c/gal. This is a
5 cent decrease on the day. It's the lowest front-month benzene price since
Sept. 21, 276c/gal. The December DDP benzene cost was steady at
269c/gal. Soft demand is being experienced in the
downstream styrene, ethylbenzene and ethylbenzene market. According
to a market source, "All the styrene manufacturers are at minimum rates.
All of them." Although the arbitrage to Europe is closed for
styrene, offers for US styrene are not below $1,000-1,040/mt. Sources
claim that producers will not sell at a loss below this level, and would rather
wait for market conditions.
