The US spot acrylonitrile price remained
stable for the third week in a row during the week ending Aug. 9, despite
limited market indicators. The domestic ACN contract was stable
at 81.75c/lb delivered. This was despite the $30-35/mt price drop across all
three markets. This assessment was made using an
industry-acceptable formula that took into account the 45.5c/lb July CGP
settlement and the $960-980/mt July ammoniaCP. Market sources did not provide
any insight into how the supply and demand levels looked during the week. However,
one market participant stated previously that US supply is starting to tighten
as US exports are becoming less. According to one source, "Market
sentiment is stable." The ABS is showing a slowdown, maybe
8% to 10%, but...
