The week ending Nov. 17, there was little activity on the
European oxo alcohols markets. The reason for this is that demand remained low,
particularly for butanols. The prices of oxo alcohols remained stable during the week, as market
conditions remained liquid. However, consumers showed no interest in spot
volumes. Producers were therefore operating at lower rates in order to meet
contractual demand. The market supply improved after operations at Zak, a Polish producer,
came back online in November. Production was heard to be resuming for
2-ethylhexanol as well as butanol products. Sources indicated that 2-EH was in greater demand than iso-butanol or
normal butanol. However, overall consumption was low. A producer stated that 2-EH demand was supported by offtake in fuel
