The Asian polystyrene market continued its
downtrend. General-purpose polystyrene fell $45/mt week-on week to $1155/mt
Nov. 9, as the offers decreased due to a weaker upstream trend in styrene
monomer. The
feedstock styrene monmer price increased $2/mt to $925/mt China week-on-week.
This may be a support for the future, provided that the feedstock price remains
stable. Butadiene dropped $40/mt to
$740/mt China during the same time period. High-impact polystyrene also fell
$45/mt week-on week to $1,220/mt China. After
falling steeply in the past, only expandable polystyrene was able to hold its
ground. FOB Northeast Asia general-purpose
EP price was up $5/mt to $1,200/mt. This is the same level as FOB China,
although some offers were heard reaching $1,250-1,290/mt. The fire-retardant price per mt was stable...
