US contract soda prices up $100-$120/dst for week | CEO Olin says company is ready for more output cuts

Spot export caustic soda prices
in the US were unchanged at $1,050-$1,060/dmt FOB USG on Nov. 1, based on
stable last heard pricing indications. Since 2004, when we began
to assess the market, this level has been an all-time record. The US contract caustic soda price was up $100-$120/dst from
Nov. 1 to $970-980/dst FOB US plants. This is due to previously announced price
increases that were incorporated into contracts. According to a market source, spot export caustic soda
prices may fall as European buyers have secured sufficient volume to maintain
robust inventories and make it possible to negotiate more timely deals. Sources indicated that lower Asian caustic soda costs could
lead to a decline...
