The week ended Feb saw an increase in
trading activity on the Chinese methanol markets. The week ended February 17th saw a rise in
trading activity on the Chinese methanol market. Trade
sources indicated that March cargoes were already covered at $325-340/mt CFR
China while 15,000 mt volume traded at a premium of 1%-1.5% to the CFR China
formula prices. However, there was enough supply and healthy downstream demand
for acetic acid and formaldehyde. South Korean buyers were already covered
in March and trade discussions focused on April spot cargoes. CFR China
Methanol was $1.50/mt less than the previous day at $323.50/mt Feb. 17 CFR
Southeast Asia fell $1/mt to $375/mt. CFR Korea methanol
was steady week-on-week at $369-386/mt February 17. India's methanol
