- There have been no new spot tenders in the Asian
naphtha markets- Low demand for steam crackers



On Nov. 24, no spot tenders were received
in the Asian naphtha marketplace due to low demand for light naphtha by steam
crackers. However, the paper market was strengthened by expectations of lower
arbitrage volumes from the West. A
trader stated that "On the demand side there haven't been any improvement
in China and (olefins–naphtha] margins won’t improve until February next
Year." Since Sept. 28,
ethylene-naphtha margins are below breakeven $250/mt for integrated producers.
This spread was $20.375/mt less than the Oct. 21 close. The paper market grew slightly as brokers pegged
December-January Mean Japanese naphtha swap spread at $10.50/mt during
midafternoon trade on Nov. 24, a 25-cent increase from Nov. 22's close. A second trader...
