The Asian naphtha market saw quiet trading
early Aug. 8 on weak demand for steam cracker feedstock in the current
first-half October delivery cycle while steam crackers were looking to bring
forward turnaround seasons to reduce losses, said sources. The sentiment
strengthened during morning trading on Aug. 8 as the market flipped to a
backwardation from a contango structure observed at the tail end of the week
ended Aug. 6. Brokers pegged the front-month August-September Mean of
Japannaphtha swap at $2/mt, wider by $1/mt from the Asian close Aug. 5, data
from S&PGlobal Commodity Insights showed. In tender news, Japan's Asahi
Kasei Mitsubishi Chemical was heard to have bought at least one cargo of
open-specification naphtha with minimum 70%paraffin content slated for delivery
