Asian MTBE prices remain rangebound due to weakening demand / Chinese market closed for Labor Day Holiday / Mixed views on US Arbitrage Window amid Market Uncertainty

Asian MTBE FOB Singapore was up $3.09/mt from day to day, at $655.41/mt. The cash differential of $5.05/b remained unchanged compared with the previous session for FOB Singapore 92 RON fuel Mean of Singapore Strip (15-40 days). China's market was closed on May 2 for the Golden Week holiday. Chinese market participants did not say much. The market expects FOB China to fall when Chinese market players return from their holiday. Prices should drop. A trader in Asia said that more MTBE plants were closing due to poor economics. "I feel the demand has weakened," he added. A Singaporean source also said that the current market conditions meant there was little appetite for blendstocks and most market players prefer to purchase straight-run gasoline.
