Asian Benzene prices fall after China's market decline Benzene/naphtha Spread Widens to $164.625/mt / South Korea exports 247,087 mt benzene in April

Asian benzene was $13/mt down day on day to $730/mt at FOB Korea, May 16, after a weak domestic China market. The eastern China domestic mark Yuan120/mt was lower than the previous day at Yuan6,108/mt. CFR China's marker, however, was down $12/mt on the day at $747/mt. As of the Asia closing, the front-month ICE Brent futures contract had risen 27 cents/b on the day to $64.33/b. The C+F Japan Naphtha marker fell $6.625/mt at $565.375/mt. The benzene/naphtha price spread increased to $164.625/mt from $106.58/mt in May 1st. According to market sources, a typical naphtha spread of $100-$150/mt is needed for benzene production.
