Due to weakness in upstream energy, US July
DDP-benzene dropped by 2.50c/gal to 502.50c/gal on July 21. This was due to a
lack of liquidity. WTI
crude futures were $3.53-4.50/bl less on July 21 at $96.35-102.50/bl. This is a
decrease of 3.53%. The benzene to crude
ratio was 2.19, while benzene fell only 0.50%. The benzene to crude ratio was above 2 - this is the
historical average for the ratio is 2021 and the historical level at which
benzene has been balanced relative to crude. Sources have indicated that the US is still waiting for
benzene imports to arrive from South Korea. This will prompt August to see some
