Market quiet on oil volatility  April ACP fails to settle due to volatile oil  



Asian paraxylene was down
$15-20/mt at $1,170-1,190/mt CFR Taiwan/China on March 31. Although
the May ICE Brent crude oil futures were volatile on March 31, the bearish
trend in global oil markets was also extended. Market sources claim that PX prices have been closely
following oil prices despite the volatile market. Brent crude oil was $2-3/b lower at $105-110/b on March 31. The
C&F Japan naphtha marker was $30-35/mt lower at $920-950/mt. PX-naphtha spread increased to $245-275/mt, up from $220-260/mt
the previous day. Market sources claimed
that traders were becoming jittery due to the sharp fall in oil prices over the
morning and afternoon. Sources said that
negotiations on the April Asian Contract Price (or ACP) negotiations were a
wide-ranging affair....
