After the Eur100-115/mt drop of monomer
contract pricing, and abundant July availability, widespread drops occurred in
European linear-low density polyethylene markets during the week ending July 6. The European ethylene
industry-settled contract prices were agreed to be Eur100-115/mt lower on the
month, at Eur1,495-1,520/mt on June 30, bringing the contract to its lowest level
since March's Eur1,435-1,450/mt. The
sentiment was affected by a large drop in naphtha prices, which fell more than
$85-88/mt on June 29th from May to June 29th. Market sources indicated that pricing would continue to be
under pressure until July, as there was ample supply. Multiple sources claimed that a major producer had
"very large stocks" and was trying to sell them...
