Asian styrene monmer was valued at $26/mt
during the session at $1.109.50/mt CFR China, and $1.099.50/mt FOB Korea
February 20. A bid was made for CFR China March cargo at the Market on Close
assessment process at $1.110-2.120/mt. An offer was $1,170-1,210/mt. AA
trader stated that CFR China cargo availability was very low. This raised the
CFR China marker’s premium to Chinese domestic prices on an import-parity basis
to around $30-35/mt. SM producers are afraid to commit to
volumes due to poor margins in the past year, and so are downstream producers
of ABS [acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene] and PS [polystyrene]," a market
