Market participants are still on the sidelines | Demand slightly rises in, as the upstream is more stable.

Sep 14, 2022

- Market participants are still on the sidelines- Demand slightly rises in, as the upstream is more stable.

Due to limited trade activity, the Asian
ethylene market remained steady on September 13 as participants remained off
the sidelines for October arrival cargoes. Although floating selling indications were heard at a
premium of $30-40/mt over CFR Northeast Asia spot prices on a floating basis,
no firm trade was made. A few market
participants stated that they weren't in a hurry to close October-arrival
cargoes, but that trade activity could pick up towards the second half of
September. Although higher crude oil
prices and an increase in downstream demand have helped to boost sentiment,
some market participants remain cautious due to generally weak downstream
margins.
