On June 9, Asian butadiene was deemed
stable. Market
participants opted to wait and see as several butadiene plants were due to be
restarted shortly. After an emergency
shutdown, South Korea's GS Caltex & Lotte Chemical will be reopening their
joint venture butadiene facility in Yeosu on June 9. Due to problems, the 90,000 mt/year facility was shut down
in May. As of June 9, a successful restart
was not possible. As of June 9, Petronas
Refinery and Petrochemical Integrated Development (or PRefChem) in Malaysia
plan to restart the 180,000 mt/year Johor butadiene plant. According to some market sources, butadiene supply was
