The SM index remained steady Nov. 15,
increasing $3/mt to $983/mt CFR China Nov.15 and $978-990/mt FBO Korea Nov.15. Many sources continue to
attribute the recent price rise to China's COVID limitations. However, another
source claimed Nov. 15 that he heard that downstream PS inventories were low.
This could have led to a stronger demand for PS. A market source claims that a second tender was issued from
the Middle East, possibly for 5,000 mt SM from China. Last week, the first tender was published. Parallel upstream markets were firm, however. Spot ethylene prices remained stable at $883-900/mt CFR
Northeast Asia while benchmark benzene FOB Korean was valued $9.50-10.50/mt
lower at $840.50-870.50/mt Nov. 15. February
