China buyers look at international MX prices





Asian isomer-grade mixed xylenes rose $1-2/mt on the day to $960.50-980.50/mt FOB Korea and $954.50-970.50/mt
CFR Taiwan. They were also down $10-15/mt to $980-1000/mt CFR China on July 19, as
downstream and upstream markets diverged. ICE September Brent crude oil futures rose $2.97-3.50/b
at $106.44-120.50/b in Asian trade at 0830 GMT. Paraxylene fell $3-4/mt to
$1,038.33-1,050.50/mt Cf Taiwan/China. Market
sources claimed that PX was being pressured by a weaker trend of downstream PTA. One trader
stated that he wasn't seeing any signs of recovery in downstream demand. Another MX
trader predicted that the market would "supply long" starting in
August with increased production capacity in Japan following turnarounds. He said that
the demand is rising and China MX players...
