According to market sources, buying
activity increased in the Asia naphtha marketplace on Aug. 23, as crackers
require cargo to fulfill contract requirements. However, the sentiment was
bearish because of weak demand from Asia's main consumer, China. GS Caltex purchased a cargo of heavy full-range naphtha at a
premium of $9-10/mt to a Mean of Japan naphtha assessment, CFR. China National
Offshore Oil Corp. purchased a minimum 75% cargo at a discount of $7-8/mt
relative to the MOPJ naphtha assessments for H1 October delivery. Haldia Petrochemicals offered 21,000 mt minimum 63%
paraffinic naphtha to load over Aug. 28-Sep. 2. China's zero COVID-19 policies
have impacted olefins and dragged down the Asian naphtha markets, sources
