Market sources indicated that the sentiment in the Asia
naphtha markets remained bearish. This was due to market participants being
reluctant to engage in term negotiations because of the wide spreads for
open-specification naphtha. According
to a source in North Asia, "It's not the best time to discuss term
contract because the OSN spread is now very high and it's very difficult to
trade or do hedging to traders." On
Nov. 1, the cash differential for spot paraffinic Naphtha parcels was $6.00-$7.10/mt,
an increase of $5.50-$6.78/mt over the benchmark Mean of Japan naphtha physical
on a CFR Japan basis. On July 12, the
