ACETONE/PHENOL: the
FD Northwest Europe acetone spot price at Eur1,020/mt Dec. 6, down Eur30/mt on
the week, at the low end of a producer's indicated range Eur1,020-Eur1,050/mt,
in line with a trader's indicative value at Eur1,020/mt, and considering a
distributor's indicative range Eur1,030-Eur1,080/mt. According to a
source, lower prices are due to "end of season", and that everyone
will have low inventory at the end of the year. Another source claimed that prices dropped due to weak
demand. According to a third source, the
acetone market is balanced and December activity will be slow. The operating rates of acetone have decreased with rising
energy costs, which has limited production. The premium of phenol to benzene in Europe rose to Eur50/mt
over the week to Eur650/mt...
