The European acrylonitrile markets
continued to be long in the week ending Sept. 6. Market length was maintained
in the week up to Sept. 6, with strong energy pricing limiting the effect of
the recent contract price fall for key feedstock propylene. Propylene's monthly
contract price was Eur1,230/mt on August 31, which is a decrease of Eur165/mt
from the October levels. Market participants
stated that despite this decrease, there is still a strong appetite for
acrylonitrile. A consumer stated that
although C3 has decreased, historical pricing showed that ACN was still very
costly. However, this does not change the situation. The market's length was also affected by high energy and
natural gas prices. However, spot pricing
remained stable despite the downwards...
