Asian ethylene prices remained unchanged on
July 4, as the gap between buyers and sellers was widening at the beginning of
the week. The backdrop of weak downstream
demand and uncertain global economic conditions meant that sentiment was
neutral to weak. As the August cargo negotiation window opens,
buyers were seen waiting in the wings for further downsides. "Our
inventories are full and demand for polymers is low overall." One market
source said that they will only buy on a need basis. China was
also hit by new coronavirus outbreaks, further hindering the market's economic
recovery. Meanwhile, downstream markets for polypropylene are expected to see
low-priced South Korean cargoes in China. The
benchmark C+F Japan naphtha marker, which was $837.75-850.50/mt for July...
