US benzene increased 14 cents/gal to
505c/gal on July 19, amid continued volatility in upstream oil, which caused
prices to rise and bearish sentiment that supports a backwardation forward
curve. WTI crude futures were $1.62/b more
at $104.22-120.50/b, up 1.58% on July 19. Benzene
rose by 2.85%. The benzene to-crude ratio was 2.04 on the day.
This is an increase of 2.01 from July 18, and above the historical average of 2 -
the average annual ratio for the ratio is 2021, and the level at which
benzene has a balanced relationship with crude. According
to one source, July benzene was scarce in July. Although there is still some
availability, prices are falling due to more South Korean imports expected...
