In the week ending Nov. 23, European linear
low density polyethylene grade saw very little spot activity. Customers did not buy more than they required,
and demand remained low. European producers were reported to
be reducing their production because there wasn't enough demand for LLDPE grades. Producers
were also reported to be insistent on higher contracts due to energy
surcharges, but were said to be having difficulty passing on any increases amid
buyer resistance. Market participants were also concerned by the
escalating inflation. A trader said that they were faced with plus 10%
for all warehouse, storage and handling. The same applies to our new freight
quotes. LLDPE C6 had a shorter supply than other grades.
