ACETONE: US spot Acetone was down $25-30/mt
during the week at $875-890/mt FOB USG September 13. This indicated export
barge pricing heard at high 30cents/lb FOB Houston/US Gulf, while also
balancing talk about stable market fundamentals and pending confirmation of
pricing at lower levels. According
to a source, while the truck and rail car markets were active due to stable
demand from the solvents and paints industries, the export market was quiet. September domestic acetone contract assessments for truck
and rail cars were at 43.5 cents/lb (959/mt), which was stable over the week.
This offsets a declining spot market with a 55c/lb delivered Midwest railcar
