The Asian naphtha markets were still under
pressure due to low demand and ample supply. Market participants accepted the
fact that recovery was unlikely. The
paper market is also in contango since its conversion from backwardation to
forwardation late last week. The
front-month August-September Mean Japanese naphtha swap was lower at minus
1.50/mt. This is unchanged from the Asian close Aug. 11. Tender news: A new tender was issued by QatarEnergy, offering
25,000 mt Pearl GTL naphtha as well as 50,000 mt full-range naphtha. It will be
loaded Sept. 8-10. According to
preliminary data from the Department of Statistics, Malaysia's domestic naphtha
output increased by 34.73% in June, compared with June. The country's annual naphtha production fell 10.79% to
