- MTBE premium stable on every day- Slow market with low availability

The European MTBE/ETBE market prices fell
for the second day in a row Nov. 29, in line with the decline in Eurobob
gasoline. The MTBE premium to December Eurobob
barges held steady at $319.25-335.50/mt. The MTBE
premium remained steady despite the shrinking blend margins for high octane
ingredients. According to a source, spot trading activity was
low due to limited product availability, particularly from the Mediterranean. Supply in the
Amsterdam-Rotterdam-Antwerp hub also was tight. The source
said that it was unlikely that a cargo of 5,000 tonnes would be found. Spot
methanol prices in the MTBE feedstock markets were in a downward trend, at
Eur297-307/mt Nov. 29. This allows for healthy MTBE production margins.
