Demand slows amid uncertainty / Chinese domestic market extends declines CPDC Taiwan to close caprolactam factory for turnaround

The price of Asian caprolactam was stagnant during the week ending July 3. This is because the market has become cautious in anticipation of the deadline for the US reciprocal tariff suspension. A buyer source stated that current caprolactam price levels have returned to the pre-[Israel-Iran Conflict] levels after upstream movements. The trade uncertainty is affecting the downstream demand this week. A producer source expressed a similar sentiment. "Market fundamentals have remained essentially unchanged since last week. However, the impact of depreciating US dollars is now more apparent." According to a June 27 company source, Taiwan's China Petrochemical Development Corp. raised its July contract price by $20/mt.
