February 16th was a quiet month in Asian
ethylene markets. There were few firm offers for fixed-price cargoes and little
activity. There were discussions for cargoes
floating at a premium $30-$40/mt above CFR Northeast Asia. Some deals were done
at a premium $30-$32/mt in March arrivals. Tight
supply continued to support selling indications for fixed-price cargoes, with
most sellers stating that they were out of spot inventory. Some Asian
naphtha-fed steam crunchers were still looking for spot cargoes. They claimed
that it was more economical to buy cargoes than buying them because naphtha
prices were high and margins were tight. The buying
