Due to higher crude oil prices, Asian
styrene monomer prices increased $12.50/mt over the past week to $1.389/mt CFR
China by June 21. H1
August was valued at $1,384/mt CFR China. This assessed the H2 July/H1 Aug
backwardation at $10/mt. Domestic prices were higher. Yuan 120/mt was used to assess the prompt marker in East
China. This is equivalent to $1,373.09/mt if you use import-parity. According to industry sources, spot discussions were slow
due to low demand from China. Sources said
that there were occasional paper market discussions. A trader based in China stated that "Yes, [there] is]
