Due to low offers and
limited market participation, the US methanol spot declined on the day. After a February methanol offering at 122c/gal FOB ITC,
February spot methanol dropped 1 cent to 121c/gal FOB USG. March spot methanol also fell 1 cent on the same day to
121c/gal FOB USG. This was due to a March offer of 122c/gal FOB ITTC. One source said that the falling spot price was due to lower
spot demand and "the US getting better with its production rates". Another source stated that they expected spot demand to rise
in the coming weeks as spring was near and construction would likely lead to
increased methanol consumption. According
