- Both markets have soft demand- Sources Look to Nov amid Thin Activity

Trading activity fell on Oct.
18 as benzene prices were under pressure. After an earlier trade of
$900-$920/mt on Oct. 17, a trade was made for October at $885-$905/mt. The downstream draw demand was weak in the benzene markets. According to a trader, trading was moving toward the end of
the month with activity signaling the direction for the November contract
settlement. Styrene demand was low and
offer levels were slightly lower on the day. Due to low activity in key downstream industries such as
construction, the spread between the products was $348.75-$368.89/mt. This is
below an acceptable Eur500-Eur520/mt level that producers had heard about.
