Prices soften 1 cent on day



US methanol spot prices fell on Tuesday due to muted buying
interest. No new bids or trades were reported at market close. November
and December methanol prices fell 1 cent on Nov. 9, to 97c/gal FOB
USAG. The market structure that existed before was retained. According
to one market participant, a producer made a trade Nov. 8, buying spot at
98c/gal for 10,000 barrels. The source stated that they still consider
demand to be bleak despite the trading interest. As global demand remains
low, market players don't expect demand to rise until H1 2023. This is due to
concerns about a possible recession. Methanol's seasonality decreases in
the winter, while windshield wiper fluid and formaldehyde use methanol less
during the spring...
