US May DDP-benzene rose by
3.5 cents/gal to 407c/gal on May 5, thanks to support from crude futures,
bullish sentiment and support for crude oil. As a
second derivative of styrene is being restarted, the sentiment for
feedstock benzene has been bullish on the forward curve. It will be in effect
for the week beginning May 8. On May 5,
the contango between May FOB and third-quarter FOB was 3.5 cents per gall. Source said that although benzene is still soft at the
front, the curve will be supported until July, when demand is expected
increase. Another source echoed this
